Cincinnati Bell debuts 4G mobile network

Date: Tuesday, July 5, 2011, 12:33pm EDT
Cincinnati Bell Inc. said Tuesday it has launched its 4G wireless network, with speeds three times faster than its 3G network.
The telecom company also claims its network is faster than other national wireless companies’ 4G networks, based on independent field tests conducted in April. The network covers Greater Cincinnati and 4G networks outside the area via agreements with national wireless firms, Cincinnati Bell (NYSE: CBB) said in a news release.
As part of the launch, Cincinnati Bell is introducing a new smartphone, the Huawei Ascend X 4G, with the Android operating system and a 4.1-inch touchscreen display, among other features. The Huawei comes with a limited time, buy-one-get-one-free for $99 offer, based on a mail-in rebate, that includes a two-year equipment agreement and smartphone data plan.
