The trial of 25-year-old Casey Anthony has captured the attention of people across the nation. But why? The trial, which opened in Orland o on May 24, has had some stunning revelations - including two vastly different accounts of how Anthony’s daughter, Caylee, had died.
Why do you think it is that viewers have been caught up in the details of the case? What makes this particular trial different than other murder trials? What about the ethics?

Casey Anthony's Father Admits Suicide Attempt, Denies Molestation
Casey Anthony's first-degree murder trial descended into chaos on Wednesday morning when prosecutors entered a flurry of objections as the defense attempted to question the accused child killer's parents about sexual abuse they allege she suffered at the hands of family members.
Casey Anthony Trial"I would never do anything like that to my daughter," the defendant's father, George Anthony, said when asked if he had molested Casey.
Defense attorney Jose Baez then asked George Anthony if he would ever admit to abusing his daughter. "You would never admit to it, would you sir," Baez asked. Anthony again denied any wrong doing. "I would never do anything to harm my daughter in that way," he said.
The alleged abuses were brought up by the defense during opening arguments, after Baez claimed Caylee died on June 16, 2008, when she drowned in her family's swimming pool. He said Anthony did not contact the authorities because she was unable to tell the truth after years of sordid sexual abuse that she suffered at the hands of her father.
"It all began when Casey was eight years old and her father came into her room and began to touch her inappropriately and it escalated... She could be 14 years old, have [had] her father's penis in her mouth, and go to school and play with the other kids as if nothing [had] happened," Baez said.
Stonewalled with denials from George Anthony on the alleged molestation, Baez turned his line of questioning to a highly publicized suicide attempt that occurred on January 22, 2009. On that day, former Anthony family lawyer Brad Conway contacted law enforcement and reported George Anthony missing. In his 911 call, Conway said Anthony "has taken several bottles of medication from the house as well as some pictures."
The following day, police found a despondent Anthony, along with a five page suicide note, at a Daytona Beach, Fla., hotel. Anthony was taken into police custody and briefly held at a medical center for evaluation.

On the stand today, Anthony admitted attempting to take his own life and then broke down on the stand. Casey Anthony did not react as her father put his head in his hands and sobbed.
Earlier in the morning, George Anthony became agitated with Baez when he was again questioned about an odor he said he had smelled in the trunk of his daughter's Pontiac Sunfire when he went to retrieve it from Johnson's Wrecker on July 15, 2008. The vehicle had been impounded by the Orlando towing company on June 30, 2008, roughly two weeks after Caylee was last seen alive.
"You're trying to take this joy of my life away from me, sir, and you can't do it anymore," Anthony said. "I will answer this to you, sir - the decomposition that I smelled in the trunk of my daughters car on July 15, 2008 at Johnson's towing smelled like human decomposition."
During previous testimony Anthony, a former police detective, said he was initially afraid of what he might find in the trunk of the vehicle and thought, "Please God, don't let this be my Casey or my Caylee [in the trunk]," he testified.
Prior to calling George Anthony to the stand, the defense briefly questioned his wife, Cindy Anthony. The defense was again attempting to take aim at her son, Lee Anthony. During opening arguments, Baez alleged Casey Anthony's older brother had tried to "follow in his father's footsteps."
"On certain occasions when he was a teenager, [Lee] attempted to also touch his sister, although it didn't go as far," Baez said. He added, "These ugly secrets will come out at this trial. And you'll see what makes Casey Anthony act the way she does."
Baez asked Anthony today if she recalled "several years back when there was an incident involving your son Lee going into Casey's room at night?"
Prosecutors immediately objected, but Judge Belvin Perry overruled the objection and instructed Anthony to answer. She replied, "No."
Several other objections followed as Baez attempted to further his line of questioning about the alleged abuses. Each objection was sustained by Perry and Anthony was eventually allowed to step down following a brief sidebar between the judge and the attorneys.
Casey Anthony, 25, is accused of multiple charges, including capital murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter of a child and misleading law enforcement in the death of her two-year-old daughter, Caylee. The prosecution is seeking the death penalty.

Zara Phillips accepts it will be a challenge to secure her place in Britain’s eventing team
Tuesday June 14,2011

By Daily Express Reporter

ZARA PHILLIPS accepts it will be a challenge to secure her place in Britain’s eventing team for London 2012.
Phillips has yet to claim a spot at next year’s Games on High Kingdom, the horse most likely to put her in the reckoning.
The quality of the GB team, including world No1 William Fox-Pitt, ensures the competition for places is fierce. But Phillips, 30, knows how quickly the landscape can change.
“I’ve got a lot of work to do as this country has a lot of good combinations,” she said. “The GB team is very strong – unfortunately for me. But that’s a good thing really because it means to get into the team is an achievement in itself.
“I need to get some experience on the horse, some good results and try to push ourselves up into the frame.
“The team won’t be selected until next year, so we’ve got time and there are plenty of events between now and then.
“We’ll probably aim for Burghley, that’s a four-star event in September and hopefully we’ll get a good result there.

Copy-Kates rushed to snap up the £395 tiered Moraiah dress, which had cost £795 before the summer sales started. Within hours, the dress had sold out on two designer websites.
Temperley said: “This cocktail dress is a perennial, classic waist-nipped shape with a sexy, structured bodice, hand-embroidered straps and a tiered skirt.” It certainly showed Kate’s never going to be Court out...

JK ROWLING DUMPS AGENT WHO HELPED HER MAKE MILLIONS

JK Rowling has dumped the man who helped conjure up her £530million fortune
Monday July 4,2011

By Rod Mills

J K ROWLING has dumped the man who helped conjure up her £530million fortune.
Literary agent Christopher Little is credited with masterminding the Harry Potter author’s career after spotting the potential of her first manuscript.
However, the 45-year-old mother-of-three has “terminated her association” with Little after 16 successful years in which he transformed her novels into a multi- million-pound industry.
And in a devastating blow to the 69-year-old agent, she has defected to a new firm established by lawyer Neil Blair, who until recently worked at the Christopher Little Agency.
Mr Little, 69, the son of a First World War fighter pilot, was yesterday thought to be considering legal action after being left “disappointed and surprised” by the development.
For her part, Rowling, who lives in a 17th-century mansion in Edinburgh, hinted at behind-the-scenes tensions in a brief statement.

JK Rowling Spokesman
The writer, who was a struggling single mother when she was discovered by Little, said she had “sought a different outcome for some weeks”, but the move had “become unavoidable”.
Her departure to newly formed Blair Partnership comes days after it was announced she would launch a new website, Pottermore, in October.
She worked closely with Blair on the site, which will sell electronic versions of the Harry Potter books, while he was still with Little. It is expected to earn her many more millions through the sale of ebooks and online games.
At the launch she said: “I knew that in 1998 I was generating more material than would ever appear in book.” Yesterday her spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that J K Rowling has terminated her association with the Christopher Little Literary Agency. This was a painful decision, especially as Ms Rowling had actively sought a different outcome for some weeks
